Electrification of transport is also an important aspect for achieving energy goals, more efficient use of energy sources and environmental goals (reducing air pollution, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing noise). The introduction of electric vehicles also represents a potential for economic development, as one of the most important representatives of the automotive industry and many suppliers of the automotive industry operate in Slovenia. With the help of electricity, we can successfully reduce the dependence of traffic on fossil fuels, which currently stands at about 96%.

In accordance with the obligations adopted at the European level, it is necessary to encourage the purchase of electricity or. hybrid vehicles and build a network of charging stations so that by 2030 at least 15% of traffic on Slovenian roads will be done without greenhouse gas emissions. Additional financial incentives are envisaged for the purchase of vehicles with environmentally friendly motor fuels (eg electricity, gas) and for the establishment of infrastructure for the use of alternative fuel vehicles, such as incentives for the establishment of public supply and filling stations.

EUR 2 million is earmarked for the accelerated introduction of electromobility under the Cohesion Policy Implementation Program for the period 2014-2020 to support the installation of public infrastructure for alternative fuels and smart charging stations.
